Dec 20, 2017
Cascade School of Music is proud to
announce 10 year old CSM student, Carly Cooper, has been awarded the Rising
Star Award for December, 2017. Carly is a
student of Cullie Treichler, and the daughter of Robin and James Engle of Bend.
Rising Star Award recognizes students in years one and two of private
instruction who exhibit talent, effort and achievement. The students who receive this award have been
nominated by their teachers as showing both great promise as musicians along with
great perseverance and commitment to their craft.
love of music began very early in life. At just five months she would move her
body and hum to the music at church. Still today, she sings everywhere, in
class at school, getting ready in the morning and sometimes she sings herself
to sleep. Carly enjoys her lessons with Ms. Cullie, and she has become a
stronger and more confident vocalist. She
has performed at her school, along with many other performances through
CSM. In addition to music, Carly has a
passion for people, and making them smile. She notices things about people, and
openly shares compliments,” says Robin Cooper.
Carly is a
bright and beautiful human being. She has been studying voice with me for about
a year and a half, and has a natural talent and love for singing. Carly is
dedicated to her voice work; and is curious and willing to explore my
suggestions in developing greater freedom and healthy technique in her singing.
She is a joy to work with and has truly earned this award,” Cullie Treichler.
Along with an
award certificate, Carly received a $50 scholarship toward her private lessons
and goody bags from award sponsors Cuppa Yo, Cascade Indoor Sports and Cascade
School of Music. Carly and subsequent
monthly Rising Star Award winners are the only students eligible to win
the grand prize $500 scholarship to continue their music studies at Cascade
School of Music during Crescendo Bendo to be held at the Tower Theatre on June 2,
