Mar 06, 2018
Cascade School of Music is proud to announce 13 year old cello student, Hannah Tranby, has been awarded the Fortissimo Award for February. Hannah is a student of Michael Scott, and the daughter of David and April Tranby of Bend.
The Fortissimo Award recognizes students in year three and above of private instruction who exhibit talent, effort and achievement. These are Cascade School of Music’s best students. The students who receive this award have been nominated by their teachers as showing both great promise as musicians along with great perseverance and commitment to their craft.
Hannah is enrolled in private lessons, as well as the Celli Belli cello ensemble at Cascade School of Music. She performs duets with fellow students at CSM, and is also enrolled in the orchestra with Pilot Butte Middle School. Additionally, Hannah performs with the All-State orchestra, and the District Honors orchestra.
“She is a very hard worker and puts in 100% in everything she does,” states April, Hannah’s mother. “She runs in Cross Country and Track, she is in drama and has an upcoming lead role in a school play.”
Michael Scott states, “I’m fortunate to have Hannah as a student. She is the first chair cellist in 8th grade at Pilot Butte Middle school and has been playing for 3 ˝ years, ever since 4th grade. She has a natural grace and athleticism that has allowed her to produce a big sound and have quick reaction time, things that usually take quite a while to settle in. She has a good voice and a discerning ear. She also possesses a strong will to succeed and the patience to get things right. She has a wonderful sense of humor and a smile to accompany it. I look forward to every lesson. She is on her way to being a fine young cellist and musician.”
Along with an award certificate, Hannah received a $100 scholarship toward her private lessons, and a gift from award sponsor Cuppa Yo and Cascade Indoor Sports. Hannah and subsequent monthly Fortissimo Award winners will compete head to head for a $1000 scholarship to continue their music studies at Cascade School of Music during Crescendo Bendo to be held at the Tower Theatre on June 2, 2018.
